Unlike Solid Wood, Engineered wood is a more complex product that consists of several layers. The outer layer is a hardwood veneer made of thin slice of wood whereas the inner layers are made of plywood. The grain of each layer runs in perpendicular direction thereby increasing its stability. This reduces the chances of the wood expanding and contracting unlike solid wood during fluctuations in the humidity and temperature.

Before you decide between Engineered wood and Solid Wood it is important to note some pros and cons of each.

Pros of Engineered Wood:

Engineered Wood is designed to reduce moisture problems associated with conventional hardwood

Engineered wood will not swell or warp

They are easy to install

Are Eco-Friendly

Like Solid Wood, they are also health friendly

Cons of Engineered Wood:

Refinishing is limited
